2022 CPL Awards

In 2022, prominent Inuit carver Ruben Komangapik designed two new awards to be given out at the conclusion of the 2022 Canadian Premier League Season.

The Players’ Player of the Year Award is represented by a muskox, while the Defender of the Year is presented with a Walrus. Visiting Ruben at his home in Ottawa, we filmed a short documentary to explore his artistic process.

This piece debuted on the Canadian Premier League social channels, with an alternate cut being played on the OneSoccer broadcast. It forms a major piece of the CPL’s Player Awards program, which features trophies designed by a range of Inuit artists.
